Entity Empowerment
This is fairly self-explanatory. You are asking an entity to empower this object for you, whether it's a link, a charged item, or a single-function device. I typically use this for things I wear, when an entity is willing. I have also used it for charged tourmaline or obsidian from Pele. Or a healing or unbinding item from Hi'iaka. I ask the entity for them to perform this, verify their willingness, and make my offerings. I normally leave this out overnight and it is done in the morning. I've seen it done immediately, but still leave it overnight for my own peace of mind.
In the case of this grimoire, entities will act to help empower the items for those symbols they have chosen to help with. It is still their choice to do so or not and I will not be part of any forcing of the issue. A Goddess or God can also do it, if the spirit refuses, but that will be the decision of the God or Goddess. A respectful approach is typically best.
Another use for the Entity Empowerment area is to supplement one of the other empowerment methods, Burying or Evocation. We may not have the X number of days for a strong charge before we no longer have access to that area or source. A complex entity that is willing and has the skills can assist with finishing the job or making it stronger than it is at the time of asking. Do I need Hi'iaka to provide fresh green “Life” energy or can a willing land spirit do it? This can come down to preference. Hopefully it doesn't come down to the ego of having a “powerful” entity do it when another also can. Relationships can be forged from such encounters and friendships to be had. Land spirits don't need your firstborn child, but may highly value a fresh apple or pear that they can't get in your immediate local area that we only have to go to the market for. Consider it.
Servitor Empowerment
There's no reason an entity couldn't be created to move energy from one place to another or one object to another. In this case, we're talking about a servitor that moves energy, different types of energy, from one point to another. That point could be anything, a source, a target, or anything else. I created some servitors specifically to move energies from distant sources to nearer ones. The most practical application I use this for is candle empowering and rituals, such as the Thorny Spear in the back of the book.
I have a YouTube demonstration of the creation of these entities available on my channel. I created two, since I was working with lighter and darker energies and I wanted to see if/how much the energies the servitor worked with would change its signature and feel. It was significant, even if the interactions with them haven't largely changed. The darker servitor's “attitude” is beginning to change and match the darker celestial places whose energies I'm experimenting with.
I would encourage a similar approach and keep one for lighter things and one for darker energies. In theory, they're just moving energy from here to there. I can see over the past half year the changes between the two and expect this to continue. I'm also making these publicly available for the other grimoire I'm slowly working on - the spirits I'm working with are dictating the speed of some of these works.
They do take a small amount of energy they move, if not given offerings. Something as simple as water or some incense given to them would be appreciated. I imagine they are going to be quite busy. While I have some protections in place for them, I would ask that you not alter them. I have things similar to document save points in place, but this takes time and energy. I'm also training them to seek out new sources for the energies they affiliate with best and that sort of gets in the way.
If you're disinclined to work with other people's servitors, then you can watch my video and create your own or use your internet search powers to find a tutorial using methods you prefer. All the same to me.
Offerings
What each spirit would like is up to that spirit. It should be something negotiable. Intuition, pendulum, or similar is more than fine to determine this. A piece of fruit or two, maybe some vegetables. Teas, coffee, tobacco, alcohol, etc… It will vary at times, even with the same spirit. I pour out part of every new beer or wine to the land, make teas and coffee for them, offer various fruits, sometimes sweets, and on and on. Typically natural items, but not necessarily “organic”, which has no defined national meaning or standard here in the US.
For work specific to this grimoire and the spirits in it, I will include the offerings I've given in the text so this giving is shown. If I don't have an offering on me when a spirit is doing something for me, such as paying for a nice shell or piece of driftwood on a casual walk, then I state that I will make the offering later and then am sure to do so.
When I do this, I state what it is for, the specific items, and where it was obtained from. This may be as specific or general as it can be. I don't always know the specific names or ways of describing where I am on a trail or side road here in Hawaii. I do the best that I can and this can involve thinking of that specific small location, if it is remembered.. If I know the specific spirit, usually only by their energetic signature, I also think of their signature.
WARNING: If a specific spirit didn't request an offering for it, then only use the location. There can be numerous spirits in a location and not all of them should be given offerings or specific attention. Nature spirits aren't tame, fluffy bunnies. Even the “nice” ones should be thought of as having retracted claws and fangs.
Let's talk about Blood offerings. Blood features heavily in my work. I don't use it for everything, even if it seems that way. I take the phrase “Blood, Sweat, and Tears” pretty literally. If I want it bad enough, I will bleed for it. Doesn't mean I have to or expect it to be needed, but I am prepared to offer it for the things I want or believe more strongly in.
In Demonolatry, they typically call for a drop or two. I typically coat candles with mine and then oil them so it doesn't flake off when I burn the candle. I've also figured out places on my hands where more can be obtained without resorting to veins. I squeeze and milk each lancet stick site for the blood it is worth. I also have a dedicated “dissecting” kit for some of my more personal targets, but this has not been brought out for Land spirits in all of the years I've been working with them. Typically for Gods and Goddesses level entities.
WARNING: If a “land spirit” is asking for large amounts of blood, cease contact and then start your space purification rituals. If contact persists, call upon Pele, Hi'iaka, or Kamohoali'i if you've been working with them to intervene on your behalf.
TIP - Pick up the snack sized boxes of raisins. Raisins, even a single box, can go a long way with good will for spirits. They are a natural product that lots of different insects and mammals can consume. I like to spread these out over an area to spread the benefit to a slightly larger audience of living insects, reptiles, and mammals. I may also give an additional single box to the entity I'm working with. If they'd rather it be dispersed, I'm perfectly fine with them getting a say in how and where they are distributed. Not only did you provide an offering, but you also listened to and respected their wishes for disbursement (to the best of your ability). It's a double win.
Creating an Anchor Object (from scratch)
Lot more work to do here, compared to consuming the anchor I've created already. I figured someone would be interested in how I would suggest going about doing it. I use different approaches depending on the environment I’m in. It also depends on whether I am the sole consumer or if it is to be shared. They require different linking methods, if one cares about safety. For example, this book will be available to any person that decides to pay for it, without any sort of oversight mechanism as to whether or not they're jackasses or decent folk. Should probably warrant some consideration for safety. I'm not invulnerable.
There are two methods I primarily would recommend for achieving this. In short, they involve an entity linking and linking them ourselves. Not a big surprise if you've read this far. Do It Yourself method first.
- Select the items
- Cleanse the items
- Decide on the linking mechanism
- Link the items
- Deposit the item
- Verify the link with your linking object
Select the Items
There are a few things to consider when choosing linking items. They don't have to match and I would choose an appropriate item for the deposit link and a second item for your local link to the deposit link item. I would choose an item that would blend into the environment, if possible. This would also go further with the local spirits that now have a foreign energy link in their environment that they didn't ask for. I would make offerings to them to placate this intrusion (and it is). If this is for a higher level entity, such as a Goddess or God, then they may want some say in the object.
When I assisted with a project that would open gates at different points in the US, my anchoring objects were 3 shells I found in the local environment and some washed up coral from the same place. I paid for these items not only to take and corrupt them with unnatural energies to that location, but also to place them back in the area. The three shells acted like anchor points with the coral being the center piece they fed to that held the persistent gate. This was a 30 procedure that was completed on Halloween in 2020. The gate is still here, but covered.
I would choose natural items for the area that are also durable. Rocks make excellent anchors. Bone or crystals work, of course, but rocks get overlooked more easily. Especially placed inside of bushes or wedged underneath larger ones that are immovable. One of my shells is wedged in the underside of a barnacle encrusted rock. Another is in a spot in the water where divers aren't allowed. The third was wedged into the center roots of a thorny bush. The coral piece was buried shallowly and that's fine in this case. The three anchor points are the important pieces now. The centerpiece of coral was only a focal point.
The item you have as your local link, the item you will keep in your area or as the endpoint for you to connect to, can be anything. I have matching bronze praying mantises. I keep one at work and one in my ritual space. I want those energies around my space in an unobtrusive way. My desk object could've been a rubber duck, if I chose it to be. I would choose something you'd want to look at, if you care about the aesthetics of it.
You can do the opposite and take something from your space and deposit it, while removing something from the anchor location and bringing it into your space. My collection of graveyard rocks I've been offered by spirits acts this way. Those rocks then empower a space in my yard with the energies from those graveyards. I strengthen the links of the rocks by using energetic anchors that get renewed when I focus on the rocks. I would learn to create the anchor and maintain it before going down the energetic anchor route.
Cleanse the items
I generally recommend cleansing items that are going to be used as anchors. The exception would be bringing an anchor into your space from that location with the intent of keeping it there. We want to remove as many “hostile” or “unnatural” energies from the material and places the anchor has been in the past. If this is a local rock getting returned to the same location, that isn't really an issue. If it's a blood crystal from Africa mined with forced labor (and you may not know that), you may want to cleanse it to be safe.
I prefer the smoke method for items that can't get wet. Rocks and similar things that can get wet will usually get put under a faucet to simulate the running water of a creek or river.
If I don't want to do either of those things, I still have a few options available to me. I can flood the item with neutral energies or my own and specifically direct it to “overwrite” the existing energies or see them getting pushed out. If I push them out, I move the object away from them and disperse them.
The second method, you probably guessed it, is to ask an entity to do this for you. There are some specific benefits to this, if you're on good terms with an entity that will keep an eye on it for you. They can tune it to stand out less in the environment. Why would that matter? Because our objects, anchors, aren't invisible. Sensitive people will pick up on them. Sure, we could get fancy and have it lay dormant until called upon, but the more different the anchor feels to the environment, the greater the likelihood it may get discovered.
Is this really an issue? Well, it may be. I read a book by a “cabal” that advocates for people pretending to be the Conquering Warlord of various graveyards that they link together using simple anchoring methods. This is a path of subjugation of all of the spirits in those graveyards, which isn't going to go down with me. I've posted about doing this for years and am still here. I will do it again. It's part of the service I provide to honor those that have taught and looked out for me, such as Hecate and Hel (among others).
I actively seek out items like this when I visit graveyards or places of death, like accident prone highways, places of recent mass death, etc… I've found a few links that felt like this subjugation method was being employed and destroyed the links. I take my psychopomp assisting roles seriously. I only take issue with anchors that subjugate the “innocent” dead. There are some troublesome spirits that need to be kept away. I leave those sorts of things alone. Let's get back on topic.
If asking an entity to do this for you, I would ask for both the cleansing and the addition of a sort of camouflaging energies to help keep it less noticable. They may not feel it is necessary and this shouldn't be taken as a slight or a rejection. It may be unnecessary because they will relink it for you. If they agree with what you're doing and why, they can be quite helpful like that. A similar thing could be achieved with a servitor, with some sort of programming to reestablish the link after X number of hours (so the meddlesome person is gone). I have used this approach to keep vampiric links established against horrendous people. The servitor reestablishes the link and those energies become offerings to darker spirits - essentially preying on predators.
The ask of the entity doesn't have to be poetic prose with every i dotted and t crossed. I would keep it simple, keep it heartfelt and sincere, and provide an offering for their help with the linking AND for the work. Why twice? There's no question that you value their work and appreciate what they're doing for you. This may seem like overkill. Since these offerings aren't typically expensive, maybe a cup of tea and a piece of fruit, it's better to be generous than wish you had been.
