Working with Saints

I've been curious about this topic for a while. I see different people working with different Saints, and while there's a plethora of information I find about common/popular ones (St. Expedite for exams) I do see names of others I have never heard of.

I do not follow a particular "structure" in my practice per se, but I do like to have and keep altars and do magick that way. I used to keep one in my dorm but don't have one at the moment. It feels right.

But, back to the question, those who have worked with Saints and still do,

who exactly are they?

is there a specific system to follow to work with them? (rules etc)

what is their energy like?

what one should know before working with them (precautions, etc)?

and,

any resources you recommend.

This can have some variation and it may depend on which "form" you need. I'm mainly thinking of St Cyprian here. There are several and while there is consensus that some with that name lived, not all of the works attributed to him are likely his, unless he lives to be super old.

I've seen a few different sides/aspects, depending on what I was calling for. They were a bit different feeling from each other, but had the same "core". Someone could say I was seeing something similar to Godforms or entities donning the persona and acting in his name and that could be accurate, too, from what I remember.

Celestia is there a specific system to follow to work with them?
Yes and no. Just like many other spirits, they can come when they choose to, without the pomp and ritualistic dressing. Not a bad idea to follow a format that has worked for others, if a tradition is known until a relationship is established or they indicate it isn't needed. I've used this for Santa Muerta.

Celestia what one should know before working with them

I wouldn't work with them in a partial possession until there is an established relationship and some confirmation (in general). It's too easy for a spirit to masquerade and a less experienced practitioner to get caught up thinking it's the real deal. People may be more likely to trust them because they are a "saint".

I'm more likely to be working with Saints for other people and when I do, I take their religious point of view and asks with me.

The thing about saints is that they were once normal humans who achieved a superior connection to a god (the christian god, in this case) and were capable of doing amazing things. Some. Others were santified by political reasons.

I can't say anything about ancient saints, but more recent ones are easy to identify (yes, you can google their real names). There is going to be a saint of the internet in the next decade and I'm not kidding, the guy is already a beato (first step before being named saint). Clearly, you don't want that guy.

To work with them just find one that resonates with you. Most if not all of them have prayers associated, so that's a way to connect.

Yes Mary Magdalene is a saint of the catholic church. If you are interested in her go to a local catholic church and go their shop and ask for a mary magdalene stamp. The stamp should contain her image and prayer.

Vitriol I would but no catholic church here, and the ones present I'll only find Jesus, Jesus, and some more Jesus.

I went to one an year back while I was at college, to try and find something of/for Michael, but I saw Jesus in every form. I'll probably look online.

Celestia Is there an Orthodox Christian church near you, by any chance? If I'm not mistaken, she's also considered a saint there.

Dankquan There is a church but it already has some saint's name in it's name and it's a little far from my house. It's a super tiny church.

If am not mistaken there's a St.Mary Magdalene Church in my state , I heard about it long time ago.
